Introduction (relevance). Breast cancer is the most common type of malignancy in women. More than 2 million new cases of breast cancer are reported each year. This malignancy is one of the leading causes of cancer mortality in women worldwide. Objective of the study. To summarize methodological approaches to the automation of breast cancer treatment quality assessment. Results. A pan-European methodology for monitoring the quality of breast cancer treatment is being implemented on a voluntary basis. Auditors verify a healthcare organisation's compliance with pre-specified requirements both remotely and by visiting breast cancer treatment facilities. Institutions involved in the organisation and delivery of cancer care for breast cancer can calculate quality indicators on their own by analysing internal data without transferring them outside the cancer care organisation. For this purpose, the European Quality Indicator Calculator has been developed as an IT tool that can be installed on computers in cancer organisations. This research paper summarises the characteristics of the European Quality Indicator Calculator for Cancer Treatment. Discussion and conclusions. The European Union has developed a novel, easily adaptable, automated quality measurement calculator for reporting of cancer care provided for breast cancer. The automation of quality assessments favours the principles of transparency and objectivity in the control of medical activities and is one of the conditions for establishing a comprehensive integrative system for continuous digital monitoring and analysis of the quality of cancer care in real time.
