NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT OF CANCER PATIENTS IN THE PRACTICE OF NURSE

Summary:
Introduction (relevance). Nurses play an important role in the early detection and evaluation of malnutrition in cancer patients and in their nutritional support, which is part of a holistic nursing practice. The goal of nursing support is to improve patient’s nutritional intake and mitigate metabolic disturbances, reduce the risk of reducing anticancer treatment, stabilize weight, minimize adverse symptoms, and improve quality of life. The purpose of the study is to define the role of nursing staff in providing nutritional support to cancer patients at all levels of the disease. Materials and methods. The work used the recommendations on the nutrition of oncological patients of the authors of the article, according to the method of "Nutritive Support" of the American centers for the treatment of oncological patients, the method of D.V. Nevzorova. Results. Cancer patients who receive timely, adequate to their needs, optimal nutritional support in terms of timing, better cope with problems associated with the disease and treatment (symptoms, side effects), social and psychological problems. The use of nutrient mixtures helps to maintain the vital activity of the body of a sick person, which affects the quality of his life. Conclusions. Nutritional support for a patient with cancer is necessary both to improve the results of specialized treatment, and to ensure the highest possible quality of life and the highest possible state of physical and emotional comfort for family members.
