Relevance. A fast and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of ornidazole in tablets has been proposed. Purpose: to analyze the possibilities of using ethanol as a solvent in the quantitative determination of ornidazole. Materials and methods. In the article, methods for the quantitative determination of ornidazole in a tablet dosage form were applied using spectrophotometric analysis at 318 nm. The standard calibration curve is in the range of 5-20 µg/mL. Results and its discussion. The current analytical procedure using 70% ethanol as solvent is characterized by simplicity and precision. In addition, the current procedure gives fast results, and there is no need for expensive equipment for the analysis of ornidazole in tablet dosage form. Conclusions. The proposed analytical determination procedure based on the results of the study provides an accurate, simple, reproducible and cost-effective analysis for the quantitative determination of ornidazole in a pharmaceutical tablet dosage form.
