Summary:
Introduction. The knowledge of medical personnel and social workers about a sufficiently high probability of incorrect (up to cruel) treatment of persons of older age groups is the main condition for the socialization of the problem, on the basis of which it becomes possible to solve it or, at least, reduce its stability. In gerontological discourse, the concepts of "discrimination - ageism" and "violence" are used when discussing the incorrect treatment of persons of older age groups. The article presents an understanding of these concepts and provides arguments indicating the inevitability of the upbringing of behavioral norms based on the acceptance of discrimination and violence during the formation of the worldview of a modem person. The search for a solution to the problem lies in the field of identifying the facts of discrimination-ageism and violence to restore justice and improve the quality of care for older age groups.
The purpose of the study: to study the understanding of the significance of the problem by the secondary medical personnel, and to assess the attitude of the secondary medical personnel to this problem. To achieve this goal, a survey of nurses involved in the provision of outpatient care, working in municipal medical organizations of the city of Belgorod, was conducted.
Materials and methods: during the study, a cluster anonymous survey was conducted of 50 nurses involved in providing outpatient care and working in state medical organizations. In the questionnaire for each question, you are asked to choose one of three answer options: "yes", "no", "maybe". The age of the respondents with an average value of 41.7 ± 6.2 years was determined in the range from 25 to 50 years.
Results: the data obtained indicate that insufficient preparedness has been revealed among nurses working with the elderly.
Conclusions: to reduce the intensity and sustainability of discrimination, it is necessary to identify extra-gerontological and gerontological measures. The first group includes the need to develop legislative acts that increase the protection of persons of older age groups from discrimination - ageism and violence. The second is the development and implementation of training cycles for personnel involved in providing medical benefits to older age groups.
Keywords gerontology, discrimination, ageism, violence, nurses
