Summary:
Introduction. Screening of parenteral viral hepatitis (VH) among the child population is aimed at timely detection of carriers of the disease and prevention of new cases of infection. At the same time, the annual increase in the number of people sick and dying from this disease around the world indicates the inadequacy of measures for the diagnosis and prevention of VH, including among children. In the territory of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is unfavorable in terms of VH incidence both among the population as a whole and, in particular, among the child population. Objective: to assess the possibilities and prospects for laboratory screening the child population of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) for parenteral viral hepatitis. Materials and methods. The study was conducted in 3 stages. At the 1st stage, a retrospective analysis of the data from the registry "Chronic viral hepatitis of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)" was performed. At the 2nd stage, laboratory screening for VH was carried out in 3442 pediatric patients of the inpatient department of the Children's Infectious Diseases Clinical Hospital. At the 3rd stage, we analyzed data on pediatric patients registered as of 2023 with an established diagnosis of HCV (n = 62) by such criteria as gender, age, place of residence (city or district). Results. An increase in cases of infection with age of pediatric patients, prevalence of hepatitis C among those infected, as well as the presence of patients avoiding the required treatment were revealed. Discussion. It is necessary to increase the coverage of screening for parenteral HCV markers among the entire child population of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), including territorially remote areas, along with optimization of preventive measures to prevent infection of children and adolescents with HCV both vertically and horizontally. Conclusions. 1. It is necessary to develop measures aimed at full screening of the child population of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) to identify infection with parenteral viral hepatitis and timely provision of specialized care, as well as to prevent new cases of infection. 2. It is important to intensify preventive measures to prevent infection with viral hepatitis, including informing the population.
