Summary:
Introduction. Accessibility of dental care for rural residents is one of the main urgent tasks of healthcare, implemented at the federal and regional levels. The incidence of caries and its complications is universally higher among the population living in rural areas than among city residents. The main reasons for the identified social inequality include differences in the provision of urban and rural dental medical organizations with specialists, their remoteness from the place of residence of rural residents.
The purpose of the study: to provide an age characteristic of health workers providing oral sanitation to people living in rural areas of the Belgorod region.
Materials and methods of the study. A continuous sociological study of dentists and dental doctors was conducted on the basis of rural dental organizations of the Belgorod region. The study used sociological, statistical, and analytical research methods.
Results. The training of dentists at the Medical Institute of the National Research University "BelSU" began in 2006. During the analyzed period (2011-2021), the number of dentists who received a diploma from this university was 493 people. The ratio of specialists with higher and secondary medical education in rural budget dental institutions of the Belgorod region is determined, the age characteristics of dentists and dental doctors providing oral sanitation to the rural population living in areas located close, medium and far from the regional center are presented.
Discussion. In total, only 7 specialists under 30 years old work in rural dental organizations of the Belgorod region, which is 3.30% of the total number providing oral sanitation within the framework of compulsory medical insurance. Such a personnel picture was formed based on the results of 11 graduations of dentists by the Medical Institute of the National Research University "BelSU", starting from 2011.
Conclusion. The obtained facts prove that against the background of the measures proposed by the state aimed at retaining young doctors in rural areas, the work of the Medical Institute of the National Research University "BelSU" does not have a significant impact on increasing the proportion of young specialists with higher education in the Central Regional Hospital.
