Summary:
Introduction. Maintaining the health of medical students is an important indicator for the healthcare system, as they are future doctors whose health and well-being directly affect the quality of medical care they provide and public health in general. In this regard, systematic monitoring and analysis of morbidity among future medical professionals are critically important areas of research. Knowledge of the prevalence of risk factors and the characteristic features of pathology in this age group provides the basis for the development of targeted prevention strategies and measures to promote the health of students.
Objective. The purpose of this study is to analyze the prevalence of pathological conditions among students of the medical institute who are registered at the Clinic of the Northeastern Federal University named after M.K. Ammosov, in order to identify risk factors and develop recommendations for improving the quality of preventive and curative work.
Methods and materials. The study used data on medical students' illnesses for 2019–2024, obtained from the medical journal of dispensary registration and classified according to ICD-10. The analysis included frequency calculation, identification of the most common diagnoses and trends in their change, as well as a comparative analysis of groups of students with different diagnoses to determine risk factors. The results made it possible to identify statistically significant indicators of the health status of student youth.
Results and discussion. In order to identify risk factors and develop recommendations for improving the quality of preventive work, an analysis of dispensary patient data for 2019–2024 was conducted for the main classes of diseases according to ICD-10. Changes in the structure and number of registered cases are shown. Analysis of circulatory system morbidity for the period from 2019 to 2024 shows a significant increase in the number of registered patients. Particular attention is paid to a group of diseases characterized by hypertension. The number of patients with hypertension increased from 6 in 2019 to 35 in 2024. The overall picture of the dynamics of digestive diseases indicates a significant increase in the number of cases of inflammatory and reflux diseases of the esophagus and gastrointestinal tract. These changes require further study of the causes, including socio-economic factors, lifestyle and quality of nutrition of the population. Bronchial asthma with a predominantly allergic component (J45.0) during periods of stable course is characterized by a constant level of morbidity. However, in 2023, a significant doubling of cases was noted.
Conclusion. The increase in morbidity in certain areas, especially the circulatory and respiratory systems, indicates possible deterioration in public health, increased risk factors (hypertension, environmental, effects of the pandemic), as well as the potential for increased diagnosis and accounting of these diseases. A significant increase in conditions such as hypertension and bronchial asthma requires special attention to prevention. Among diseases of the digestive system, there is a tendency to increase the incidence of gastritis, reflux and peptic ulcer diseases, which may be related to stress, lifestyle and dietary factors.
