Summary:
Introduction. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on all areas of society, including healthcare and cancer practice. This study is devoted to the analysis of the impact of the pandemic on the epidemiological characteristics of malignant neoplasms in the Republic of Bashkortostan, which allows us to identify the features of the dynamics of morbidity and identify possible areas for improving the system of oncological care in emergency situations. Purpose to study. Analysis of the dynamics of indicators of morbidity and mortality from malignant neoplasms of the population of the Republic of Bashkortostan (RB) in the period 2020-2023. Materials and methods. The incidence and mortality rates from malignant neoplasms in the population of the Republic of Bashkortostan were studied in the periods 2010-2019 and 2020-2023. To assess the statistical significance of the differences, the bootstrap method was used to construct 95% confidence intervals (CI) for the median of the indicator for the period 2010-2019. Using the Spearman rank correlation coefficient, the degree of correlation with the indicators for the Russian Federation (RF) as a whole was established. The slope of the regression line was considered as a trend in the change in the indicator. Results and discussion. In the Republic of Bashkortostan in 2020, compared to the pre-pandemic period, there was a statistically significant decrease in the incidence of malignant neoplasms, the index of registration reliability, the mortality rate of contingents and one-year mortality, followed by an increase in 2021-2023. A significant increase in malignant neoplasms detected actively, diagnosed at stages I-II, the index of contingent accumulation and the proportion of patients with malignant neoplasms registered for 5 years was revealed. During periods of pandemic, the diagnosis of acute respiratory viral infections and the treatment of such patients should be maintained in full. Conclusion. At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Republic of Bashkortostan, there was a significant decrease in intensive indicators characterizing the incidence of malignant neoplasms in the population, such as mortality, the proportion of malignant neoplasms detected actively, the index of accumulation of contingents, which indicates a negative impact of the pandemic on the provision of medical care to patients. Subsequently, there was a statistically significant increase in active detection and a decrease in mortality among people with cancer. The study of incidence and mortality rates from malignant neoplasms is important in developing measures to prevent cancer and provide oncological care.
