Summary:
Introduction. The market for paid dental services in the Russian Federation is characterized by steady growth, driven by the workload of state-run medical institutions, changing consumer preferences in favor of comfort and innovative materials, as well as the active development of private clinics and franchise networks. A significant portion of dental services is paid for by the population out-of-pocket. At the same time, according to research, more than half of patients consider the cost of dental treatment a significant or insurmountable problem. At the same time, a comprehensive analysis of price trends with calculation of average annual growth rates and assessment of the actual increase in the cost of dental services based on current statistical data remains limited.
Purpose of the investigation. To determine the quantitative and price trends of the main types of dental services in the Russian Federation.
Materials and methods. A retrospective study was conducted using data from Rosstat and BusinesStat for 2010-2025. The volume of paid medical services by federal district, the dynamics of average consumer prices and consumer price indices for dental services were analyzed. The compound annual growth rate (CAGR) and real price growth adjusted for inflation were calculated, and a short-term forecast has been made. Methods of descriptive statistics and the point extrapolative forecasting method were applied; quantitative and qualitative analysis was carried out using various types of scales.
Results and discussion. The volume of paid medical services in the Russian Federation in 2025 increased by 595% compared to 2010, while the dental segment maintains a consistently high share (29%-31% over the past 7 years). All types of dental services have increased significantly in price: veneer manufacturing by 751,55%, attachment-stabilized overdenture by 431,56%; caries treatment by 430,83%; tooth extraction by 375,21; patient pre-assessment by 5,25 times. The maximum values of user price indices occurred in 2015 and 2022. Dental service price growth has consistently outpaced overall inflation, particularly for orthodontic services (15,35% CAGR for mid-year escalation 7,1% CAGR). In 2028, the price for a patient pre-assessment is predicted to stagnate (+0,8% compared to 2025), while other types of dental services are expected to grow by more than 30%.
Conclusion. Dental services have seen prices rise faster than inflation, most noticeably for orthopedic services, which is reducing the affordability of dental care.
