Summary:
Population aging is progressing nowadays. It is known that the current state of the population health is characterized by negative natural growth, high levels of disability and mortality. Aging is associated with significantly increasing percentage of people suffering from chronic pathologies, which leads to the development of frailty syndrome. The presented clinical syndrome consists of the following positions: weakening of physical and functional activity, lack of adaptive and recovery capabilities, malnutrition leading to a decrease in body weight, including muscle weight, predisposition to falling, varying degrees of cognitive impairment. This article presents the results of studying the geriatric status of the indigenous people of Mongolia. The purpose of the research was to study the geriatric status of the indigenous people of Mongolia in order to develop preventive geriatric programs. The study included 1610 indigenous people of Mongolia, who were divided into 4 groups based on their age, the age of patients varied from 55 to 93 years. The main geriatric syndromes of elderly patients in Mongolia were studied using a comprehensive geriatric assessment. The comprehensive geriatric assessment showed that the main geriatric syndromes among elderly people in Mongolia were disorders of stability, walking, general physical activity parameters, nutritional status disorders with malnutrition syndrome, and moderate cognitive impairment. It should be noted that the mental state of 93.9% of the elderly population was good. Poor mental state was observed only in one patient out of ten among patients aged 85 years and older. Disorders in the nutritional status with malnutrition syndrome were observed in patients aged 65 years and older in 56.8% of cases. At the same time, malnutrition syndrome was reliably diagnosed in 37.1% of cases in patients aged 85 years and older. It is also should be noted that there were significantly more people with moderate cognitive impairments in all age groups. Most of the patients of elder and senile age were dependent on help and assistance in everyday life. Analyzing the data obtained, it can be noted that most of the geriatric syndromes occur in patients aged 65 years and older. Thus, Mongolia needs to develop and implement preventive geriatric programs in order to improve the quality of life of the elderly population.
